frog

Ribbit

Sweet fancy Moses, but I ate my frogs for the day!

While I couldn't get started til mid-day, thanks to a mindless morning of meetings, I finished a slightly tedious work task (even took care of another, separate but related one), and did the reading and posting for one of my classes!

Of course, the other class's work is an exam (::shiver::), which won't even be posted until Wednesday. I'll plan to use tomorrow for review (it's an open book exam, and the prof has helpfully pointed us toward the material he plans to cover - man, I wish my undergrad exams were like that!), and then give myself Thursday and Friday to do the exam (it's due by Monday, but I really really really don't want it hanging over my head all weekend).

So, operation frog is proceeding well so far.

Eat your frog

It is quarter to 9, and I've been in the office for nearly two hours already!

Prepped for a presentation of our new website to the higher ups, and just had my first frog telecon with [info]jumakiwi.

Frog telecon, you may be wondering, what's that?

When I was a real estate agent back in the late 90s, the broker in my office gave me some advice. Every day, when you come into the office, eat your frog first.

In other words, whatever task you are most dreading (in those days, cold calls), do it first. Get it out of your way, so you can move on to other things without that burden hanging over your head.

This was perhaps the best advice I've ever received.

I'm not always able to follow it, but boy, am I happier when I do.

My friend [info]jumakiwi and I decided last week that we'd start each day with a frog telecon (or frogchat via instant message). We'll identify our frogs, and commit to each other that we'll tackle them right away. Then later in the day we'll check in and see how we're doing.

My work frog today was getting in her at the butt crack of dawn, so that's done. The actual work? No frogs there (though that might change - I have a meeting at 10 that could mean a shower of frogs).

My schoolwork frog is getting the reading and writing for one of my two classes completed today. I'm already halfway through the first reading assignment (the Grammy Awards provided a good opportunity, since I could listen while I read), and I've promised myself that I'll use my lunch hour to complete the rest.

My home frog, well, I don't have to worry about that til I get home.

What's your frog today?
